The most attractive feature of Kyokochi Pond is the view that beautifully reflects Kinkaku-ji Temple. The calm water surface of Kagami Lake Pond reflects the scenery and buildings perfectly, creating a beautiful mirror-like view. In particular, when the golden color of Kinkaku is reflected on the water surface, its brilliance doubles and it becomes overwhelmingly beautiful. One of the attractions is that you can enjoy different scenery depending on the season, and the sight of cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves reflected on the water surface soothes and moves the hearts of visitors. There is also a well-maintained walking path around Kyokochi Pond, where you can spend some quiet time and enjoy a peaceful space where nature and history are in harmony.

There is a pine tree called “Rikushu no Matsu'' in the Shoin garden on the east side of Kyokochi Pond. This pine tree is considered one of the three major pines in Kyoto.

It is said that Yoshimitsu Ashikaga planted the bonsai he had grown himself into the ground and shaped it into a boat shape. The pine-shaped tip of the land ship faces west, where the Kinkaku is located, and it is said that this shape was created with the idea that the ship would head to the Western Pure Land. If Yoshimitsu grew this pine tree from a bonsai, it would be approximately 600 years old. It's a very historic pine tree, so it's worth seeing.
